A worrying article in my view. who on earth thinks up these roles? Nursing is a proud profession, why are we diluting it from both ends of the professional spectrum? If I had wanted to be a doctor I would have become one!!
This is another sticking plaster over a wound in the health service, this is not a proper solution and instead of plasters we should be looking at long term solutions that are safe, realistic and sustainable.
As a patient myself i too have had the dilemma of whether or not to intervene on a fellow patients behalf. Your right in that it allows ourselves to reflect on our own practice and see things truly from a patients perspective. my hospital stay was also for emergency spinal surgery following a prolapsed disc and corda equina!!
