I love working as a nurse. I qualified in 1976. This decision is one of the worst decisions I have come across in my entire career! I hope all the unions are up in arms about this. I agree, "another tactic to destroy the NHS and privatise it!" Time to fight for our rights!

I can understand that people want to remain anonymous but couldn't you all have a nomme de guerre so not everyone is anonymous!

  • Comment on: Scrapping end of life care pathway was 'too extreme'

    Kathleen Flanagan's comment 26 May, 2014 12:43 pm

The LCP has been used and abused, that is the argument. I agree with Patrick O'Brien and those of us who have had experience of
family 'coming back to life' and then going home know that it is misused and abused. No-one knows when the 'end of life' is. It's difficult to predict. I've been nursing 40 years and I can't predict death unless of course the patient is given drugs such as Midazolam and Diamorphine to sedate them to death along with dehydration. I am all for a comfortable death but you need to be sure the person is dying rather than helping the patient to die more quickly. The patient and relatives need to be consulted too. In my brother's case none of us were. It's easy to make a judgement when you are not emotionally involved.

This is very sad. I had a wonderful nurse training at the old KL hospital. I still teach things I was taught. My dying brother received 'a very poor standard of nursing care for which I apologise wholeheartedly' said the Chief Exec Patricia Wright who left before this came to be. I know some very good nurses who work at the QE. Let's hope that this hospital will improve. Once again it seems to be the people on the shop floor that take all the flack.

  • Comment on: ‘Selfish’ nurses urged to have winter flu jab

They can take the flu vaccine and shove it where the sun don't shine. I haven't had the flu vaccine for a few years and I haven't had flu.
