Name: Sheeja Viswanadhan Lolamony

Job title: Clinical Lead

Place of work: Court Lodge (nursing home), part of Colten Care which has bought an organisation-wide subscription to Nursing Times for all its nurses

Which was your favourite unit?

It’s difficult to say. The exciting units for me were Chronic Myeloid Leukemia and Myeloproliferative Neoplasms. They gave me a bit more info about those sort of things because we get lots of people needing end-of-life care for things like cancer problems. It was eye-opening to learn a bit more about those topics.

Which unit are you planning to do next?

I have only two more to do at the moment. I tried all the units. The next one I will be trying will be Nutrition Screening.

How has NT learning helped you with your professional development?

I am also a qualified mentor. When I have a student with me, I sometimes find it easier to explain things or check when I’m unsure about something by going back to Nursing Times.

What other areas of NT do you also benefit from?

I benefit a lot from Nursing Times because I can go to the archive and read around subjects. I read every week, and I get the emails, so if I am interested in something I can go back and look for more.

How has NT learning helped you prepare for revalidation?

I’m not due for revalidation until next year, but most of the learning units Nursing Times has are very valuable.

Would you recommend NT learning to your colleagues?

Yes. It gives you more information about what you know and can help you update your portfolio.
