Name: Suchithrarani ”Rani” Madhoottan
Job title: Senior nurse
Place of work: Belmore Lodge Nursing Home, Colten Care
Which unit did you find the most useful?
Most of the units are quite good for me. The nutrition and diabetes units are especially good because we are dealing with many of these cases on a day-to-day basis, so it is a very good way to stay updated.
Which unit are you planning to do next?
I have only one left to do, and it’s the unit covering leukemia.
Why did you choose NT learning?
My employer, Colten Care, decided to give us this opportunity to do it online. It is very good, very valid and a great update for our CPD for revalidation.
How has NT Learning helped you with your professional development?
I am supposed to do my revalidation this month, so it is quite helpful. It is good for everybody to update their knowledge.
Everything you need is there. Usually when you do revalidation you have to go online and find a portfolio. But everything is at Nursing Times, so you can do it all straight away. It makes it quite easy.
Do you think that undertaking a learning unit makes you safer to care?
Yes, we do things on a day-to-day basis that we don’t always think about, and learning units are a valid way to stay updated. Some of our daily things we do automatically without thinking, so if you go back and read the unit you remember why we are doing it.
Would you recommend NT Learning to your colleagues?
Yes, definitely. My colleagues here all have it, and everybody is doing it.
