What's it really like to revalidate?

We asked a group of nurses who recently revalidated to answer some of the most frequently asked questions we receive from nurses who are about to start the process.

How your Nursing Times subscription supports revalidation

Nursing Times has a range of resources to help you to meet your revalidation requirements. These are all available to individual subscribers and to those whose employer has taken out a Nursing Times Learning subscription.

  • Nursing Times Learning
  • All our learning units are double-blind peer reviewed, and written by leading experts; they encourage critical thinking and reflection. If you successfully complete a unit and you will gain a certificate confirming that you have completed two hours of CPD. All NT Learning units are FREE to Nursing Times Subscribers, some units are made free to non-subscribers, providing they are registered users of

  • Clinical archive
  • We have over 5,000 double-blind, peer reviewed articles in our archive, covering a wide range of settings and specialties. You can use the archive to:

    • Gain a deeper understanding of your practice;
    • Undertake literature searches on subjects you are studying or researching;
    • Find evidence, information and advice to help you with service improvements;
    • Provide subjects for journal clubs or group discussions as part of your participatory CPD;
    • To underpin your reflective practice.

  • NT Portfolio
  • Our NT Portfolio is an e-portfolio that you can use to store your revalidation evidence, and shows you how you are progressing towards revalidation.

    When you enter your revalidation date it displays all evidence relating to your current three-year registration period. Your evidence can be downloaded as a PDF to use in your reflective discussion and confirmation.

  • Manager Dashboard
  • Employers who purchase a Nursing Times Learning subscription to Nursing Times have a Manager Dashboard tracking their nurses’ revalidation activity.

    Tailored to individual organisational structures, it shows managers how members of their team are progressing, and senior managers an organisation or directorate-wide overview.
