Assessment of the cancer workforce in England and Wales

  • Comment

Macmillan is leading an assessment of the cancer workforce which we believe is vital to determine how the cancer workforce has changed since 2014. We will use this information to plan for the future and support a sustainable cancer workforce.

assessment of the cancer workforce

Directors of Nursing and Lead Cancer Nurses in England and Wales will have received a copy of our census request to assess the current size, location and composition of the adult cancer nursing and support workforce. Allied Health professionals are being surveyed individually later in October.

The research has the support of NHS England and Health Education England and has been endorsed by the Welsh Government’s Chief Nursing Officer.

The census day was Monday 9 October, and data collection will close on Monday 13 November.

We hope to undertake similar work in the future in Scotland as well as for the community nursing and hospice-based cancer workforce.

In the meantime, we’d value your support to ensure your workplace is included in this workforce assessment.
