18– 24 August is the National Garden Scheme’s Gardens and Health Week.
The benefits of being active following a cancer diagnosis are widely documented. Even light physical activity, such as gardening, can have positive effects such as reducing fatigue, strengthening muscles and joints and reducing anxiety and depression.
We have been in partnership with the National Garden Scheme, who invite garden owners to open their gardens across England and Wales for charity, since 1984. This Gardens and Health Week, the National Garden Scheme is raising awareness of the positive impact of garden visiting and gardening on mental wellbeing.
Encourage your patients to go along, get outside and get inspired to start gardening or to find an open garden near them.
