Research suggests that keeping active during and after cancer treatment can be good to help manage and reduce the side effects of recovery.
gardening as way to keep active
Gardening is a great way to keep active, and in partnership with the National Gardening Scheme (NGS) Macmillan want to encourage people to get outside and get gardening. It can be done at an individual’s own pace, and with manageable steps it can gradually build fitness levels and physical strength. The NGS currently have gardens across England and Wales, and a sister scheme for Scotland.
Please let the people you support know about this initiative. You can also visit the website to find lots of useful information and download the Gardening as a way to keep active booklet and the Top tips for gardening factsheet for your patients.
