Male bladder symptoms increase with age

  • Comment

The prevalence of urinary incontinence, over active bladder, and other lower urinary tract symptoms increase in older men and affect quality of life.

This is the conclusion of a longitudinal study carried out over an 11 year period. Researcher found that overactive bladder symptoms had a negative influence on health related quality of life (HRQoL), and men who developed urinary incontinence or an over active bladder had a greater deterioration in HRQoL than men who had no change in bladder control.

Lower urinary tract symptoms such as urinary incontinence and overactive bladder are common conditions, but there are few studies describing these problems in men, especially over the long term.
