Matrons’ ward rounds can improve patient satisfaction

  • Comment
Matrons’ ward rounds can significantly improve patient satisfaction, a survey has revealed.
Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust said it was the first to reintroduce such rounds just over a year ago. As well as talking to patients, the rounds involve matrons asking 120 patients specific questions on care.
Latest results suggest 95% of patients are satisfied with information about their progress, while 100% said they had been addressed correctly and their privacy had been maintained.
The trust’s deputy director of nursing Chrystal Fox said rounds gave a ‘weekly snapshot’ of patient experience.
