Medicines zone goes live on NHS Direct website

  • Comment
NHS Direct has launched an area on its website dedicated to information about medicines.

The Medicines Health Zone provides an in-depth guide to medicines, prescriptions, immunisation and contraception.

It gives specific information about how to take medicines during specific times in life such as during breastfeeding, pregnancy and childhood and also gives advice about vaccinations, the contraceptive pill and travel advice.

There is also an A-Z of common medicines including painkillers, cancer treatment, laxatives and antibiotics.

Anne Joshua, NHS Direct head of pharmacy, said: ‘Patients who are caring for themselves at home, or carers who may have concerns, are increasingly seeking reassurance and support from NHS Direct about how to use their medicines.’
