The National Chlamydia Screening Programme initiative aims to help nurses develop a coherent practice for detecting Chlamydia in men.
The NCSP, managed by the Health Protection Agency, hopes to roll out the strategy in all PCTs in addition to the free tests and treatments it already offers to under 25s.
Dr Mary Macintosh, programme director, said: ‘The number of young men being screened for Chlamydia has been increasing year on year but there is still work to be done to ensure that this number continues to rise.'
The NCSP has also launched a new website. For information visit www.chlamydiascreening.nhs.uk
