The Welsh Assembly has announced the winners of its annual mental health nursing awards.

Sara Rees, from North Glamorgan NHS Trust, received the award for best mental health nurse (older person's care).

The best learning disability nurse award went to Wendy Williams, North West Wales NHS Trust, and the best healthcare assistant was Christopher Woods, of North West Wales NHS Trust.

Rosemary Kennedy, Chief Nursing Officer for Wales, said: 'Given the standard of nominations for the Awards this year, I am content that mental health and learning disability nurses in Wales are continuing to play a central role in improving services to some of our most vulnerable patients.

'I am extremely proud to be the professional leader of these dedicated nurses,' she said.
