Midwife earns honorary university fellowship

  • Comment

Welsh midwife Gaynor Maclean was awarded an honorary fellowship of Swansea University for her outstanding contribution to midwifery and maternity care.

Currently an international midwifery consultant, Ms Maclean was instrumental in improving the safety of midwifery practice, both in the UK and abroad, and has played a leading role in midwifery education, including writing and pre-testing the World Health Organisation safe motherhood midwifery modules.

Swansea University vice-chancellor professor Richard Davies praised Ms Maclean as a “true pioneer”.
