  • Comment
NHS Lothian has appointed a new nursing director to take up post next year.

Melanie Hornett will be joining the NHS Lothian board in Spring 2009 as the new nurse director, replacing Professor Heather Tierney Moore.

The position is an executive director role, with the postholder sitting on the board of NHS Lothian. Ms Hornett is currently director of nursing and patient services at the Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, a role she held for more than three years.

James Barbour, chief executive of NHS Lothian, said: ‘NHS Lothian has been at the forefront of innovative redesign of services for patients and I know Melanie will play a key role in taking this further forward within nursing and midwifery.’
