Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust has announced that Deborah Wheeler has taken up the post of executive director of nursing.

Ms Wheeler was previously director of nursing at Whittington Hospital NHS Trust in north London.

Siobhan Harrington is interim director of nursing at the Whittington.

Ms Wheeler is one of four senior appointments at the trust on the border of east London and Essex.

Sir David Varney, formerly the prime minister’s adviser on public service transformation, has been appointed chair. Robert Royce has joined as director of strategy and planning, and John Coakley has been made director of clinical improvement.

Trust chief executive John Goulston said: “I am sure all my colleagues on the trust board and all our staff will join me in welcoming Sir David, Deborah, Robert and John to the organisation.

“I am looking forward to working with them all – I am certain that together we will be able to help the Trust deliver excellent services and top quality care to the local community.”
