New guidance for allergy testing

  • Comment

NICE has published draft guidance on diagnosing and assessing food allergies in children and young people.

The aim is to support those working in primary care and community settings by giving clear recommendations on taking allergy-focused histories to assess the condition.

The draft guidance recommends food allergy should be considered if a child has one or a number of the following symptoms: skin conditions such as eczema, respiratory complaints, gastrointestinal problems, anaphylaxis and other allergic reactions.
