New Manchester children's hospital is largest in UK

  • Comment

The largest children’s hospital in the UK opened its doors last week in Manchester.

The Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, which has taken five years to build, has a greater bed capacity than London’s Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Gill Heaton, the new hospital’s chief nurse, said: ‘The opening of the new children’s hospital is a massive step towards a new era of health care for the North West region, and the rest of the UK. New facilities in the hospital mean that patients will have faster, better access to care – which can mean a huge difference for children who are ill or in distress.’
