A framework has been developed to help nurse researchers design better questionnaires.

The paper by the University of Dundee School of Nursing and Midwifery critically evaluates the theoretical and methodological issues associated with questionnaire design and provides a range of scales and strategies for a logical and structured approach to the psychometric evaluation of new measures.

The author says failure to develop a questionnaire sufficiently may lead to difficulty interpreting results, and this may impact upon clinical or educational practice.
