1% of IVF pregnancies aborted

  • Comment

About 1% of IVF pregnancies are aborted each year, according to figures from the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA), which regulates fertility clinics in the UK.

The HFEA figures for 2004 to 2008 show the proportion of terminations has remained stable for a number of years. In 2007, the most recent year where complete figures are available, there were 97 terminations from 12,645 IVF pregnancies in the first six months of the year.
