Blood service changes telephone number

The National Blood Service is swapping its main 0845 telephone number to a new 03 number designed exclusively for charities and public bodies.

The new number, 0300 123 23 23, marks it as the latest healthcare provider to choose a 03 number after NHS Change4Life and numerous PCTs across Britain including Wiltshire PCT, West Sussex PCT and Brighton and Hove City PCT.

0300 numbers enable organisations to use the same features as 08 numbers such as welcome messages, but only cost callers the same to dial as normal 01/02 landline numbers, even from mobile phones.

03 numbers are included in the free minutes offered by all mobile and landline network providers.
