Colin Norris to face NMC following murder conviction

  • Comment

Nurse Colin Norris, who was last year convicted of murder, will appear via video link at an NMC fitness to practice hearing next week.

Despite currently serving a 30-year prison sentence, Mr Norris’s case still has to be heard by a Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) fitness to practise panel before he can be removed from the nursing register, as revealed by Nursing Times last March.

Mr Norris will not be at the hearing in person. Instead he ‘will be appearing via video link’, said a spokesperson for the NMC.

The 33-year-old from Durham was convicted on 3 March 2008 at Newcastle Crown Court on four counts of murder and on one count of attempted murder.
