Nurses 'gallop' for breast cancer charity

  • Comment

A nursing agency has helped raised thousands of pounds for cancer research by taking part in a horse race with a difference.

Castlerock Care Services took part in the RSA Pantomime Horse Derby at Royal Windsor Racecourse on 4 July. The event hoped to raise over £10,000 to support the Breast Cancer Campaign.

The derby challenged teams of five – trainer, groom, owner and the front and back end of the horse – to compete in qualifying derbies, grand final and dressage competitions. Castlerock Care entered ‘Rocky, aka The Italian Stallion’.

Ian Munro, managing director at Castlerock, said: ‘We work in healthcare and have seen first hand the devastating effects breast cancer has on both sufferers and those around them.’

Catriona Wright, events manager at the Breast Cancer Campaign, added: ‘This is such a unique event and a fantastic way for people to network, bond with colleagues and have some fun while raising vital funds for the Campaign.’
