One hour TB test developed

  • Comment

A test for tuberculosis bacteria that should take less than one hour has been developed by the Health Protection Agency.

The usual test can take up to eight weeks, as the bacteria need to be grown before identification.

The new test is also more sensitive as it identifies a single DNA molecule, while other rapid TB tests identify an element that is found in TB, but often only in very small amounts or not at all.
