Senior nurse win prestigious award for improving patient safety

A senior nurse has won a prestigious award for her work improving patient safety in hospitals.

Lynne Wyre works for University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS trust and is one of 15 people to receive the Leaders for Change award from the Health Foundation.

The award is open to healthcare professionals who want to make lasting improvements in the quality of patient care in their area.

Ms Wyre is a divisional senior nurse for surgery, critical care and family service and aims to transform the approach to safety in hospitals.

She sees improving safety as a major issue in the NHS and wants patients to reduce avoidable harm to patients.

Currently divisional senior nurse at the trust’s division of surgery critical care and family services, Ms Lynne said: ‘The Leaders for Change scheme will allow me to further develop my leadership skills and knowledge to enable me to make a real difference to the quality of care we provide within the trust.’
