Tracheostomy dressing alert

  • Comment

A medical device alert has been issued for a tracheostomy dressing, as fibres could come away from the dressing and enter the tracheal stoma.

The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency has issued the alert for the dressing, made by Kapitex Healthcare and supplied in the UK between 28 July 2009 and 11 January 2010.

The laminate on the patient side of the dressing may be poor, resulting in fibres possibly coming away, and that the product should not be used. Affected lot numbers are on the MHRA website.
