A man has today pleaded guilty to the murder of 28-year-old midwife Samantha Eastwood.
Michael Stirling, 32, admitted killing Ms Eastwood at her home in Baddeley Green, Stoke-on-Trent between 26 July and 5 August this year.
The alarm was raised on 27 July after Ms Eastwood failed to turn up for her night shift at the Royal Stoke University Hospital.
Her body was found eight days later buried in a rural area of Caverswall, Staffordshire.
Landscape gardener Stirling, of Cromer Road, Stoke-on-Trent pleaded guilty during an appearance before Northampton Crown Court via video link today.
He was remanded into custody to await sentencing on 3 December at Stafford Crown Court.

The court was told Stirling and Ms Eastwood had been involved in a long-standing affair.
The pair had an argument on the day of the murder.
Stirling is reported to be the brother-in-law of Ms Eastwood’s ex-fiancé, John Peake.
