Public support labelling recommendations

More than three-quarters of people support NICE’s recommendation to introduce clear labelling on salt, fat and sugar levels in food and drink, a survey has found.

NICE had recommended that a front-of-pack traffic light colour-coded system be implemented “rapidly” as the national standard for food and drink products sold in England.

The survey, carried out for the Faculty of Public Health, found that 78% of people supported the introduction of an at-a-glance food labelling system.
