Nursing Times triumphs at ‘Oscars’ of media industry

Nursing Times has won two major awards at the annual “Oscars” of the media industry.

Nursing Times was last night named Special Interest Magazine of the Year and also Team of the Year at the PPA Awards 2019.

As well as winning those two awards, Nursing Times also claimed silver in the Commercial Partnership of the Year category for its work with the charity Macmillan.

The 39th annual PPA Awards were held on Wednesday at the Grosvenor House Hotel on London’s Park Lane. Overall, there were 19 hard-fought award categories.

The event, which celebrates the “very best of the best” across the media industry, was hosted by comedian and presenter Alex Brooker, from Channel 4’s The Last Leg.

The PPA is the membership network for magazine media and business information publishers in the UK. The PPA’s role is to promote, protect and advance the interests of the industry – and has been doing so for over 100 years.

The PPA’s membership consists of some 200 publishing companies, ranging from consumer magazine publishers, business-to-business data and information providers, to customer publishers and smaller independent companies.

PPA chief executive Barry McIlheney said: “The PPA Awards bring our whole industry together to celebrate the sheer excellence in consumer magazine and business media across all disciplines.

“Tonight has been no exception, with a record-breaking number and exceptional standard of entries,” he said. ”Congratulations to all those nominated and especially to the winners, who stand out as the very best of our industry right now.”
