NICE issues diabetes draft guidance

  • Comment

Type 2 diabetes should be treated with a daily 1.2mg dose of liraglutide, according to draft NICE guidance.

NICE said the evidence available did not suggest any significant additional benefits from a higher 1.8mg dose also under consideration.

Liraglutide is recommended in dual therapy regimens for people who would normally receive both metformin and a sulfhonylurea, but who cannot tolerate one or other of these drugs. The recommendations have been issued for consultation.
