  • Comment

The new ministers for social care and public health have been announced.

Thurrock MP Jackie Doyle-Price has been appointed minister for care and mental health, succeeding David Mowat who lost his seat at the election.

Ms Doyle-Price entered Parliament in May 2010, having previously worked for the Lord Mayor of London and the Financial Services Authority, and has served as an assistant government whip.

MP for Winchester and Chandler’s Ford Steve Brine has been appointed as minister for public health and primary care, replacing Nicola Blackwood.

Mr Brine was elected in 2010 after working in journalism, marketing and publishing.

He was parliamentary private secretary to Iain Duncan Smith at the Department for Work and Pensions, before taking on the same role with health secretary Jeremy Hunt.

They join Philip Dunne, who was re-appointed as minister of state for health at the Department of Health as part of the post-election reshuffle.
