Nurses should respect and support patients who use cannabis for medicinal purposes but must stay within the law and follow professional guidance, new research has warned.
The UK study, which reviewed more than 50 published papers, professional and government guidance documents, official reports and media coverage, highlights the dilemmas faced by nurses working with patients using the drug.
These include the need to record drug usage on a person’s medical record for their own safety when to do so may go against their wishes.
