Patient care in Colchester praised

  • Comment

Steps being taken to improve the quality of patient care in Colchester hospitals have been praised by the chief executive of the NMC.

Professor Dickon Weir-Hughes was speaking after a six-hour visit to Colchester Hospital University NHS Foundation Trust, which consists of Colchester General Hospital and Essex County Hospital.

He met senior nurses, including Julie Firth, director of nursing and patient experience, as well as staff on the wards.

Speaking afterwards, he said: “It has been fantastic to see the developments which Julie and her nursing team are putting in place to enhance patient care.

“The measures I have seen to improve the dignity and privacy of patients, but also the work on mentorship which will help develop the nurses of tomorrow, will make a significant positive contribution to the patient experience of the people of north east Essex.”
