Sanitising hand gel halves sickness absence

Regular use of sanitising hand gels at work cuts sickness absence rates by more than half, according to a new study.

The German researchers found that when workers were told to use the gels five times a day, the amount of time taken off work with diarrhoea fell by 89%.

Over one year, the amount of time taken off for colds was cut by 65% and fever by 62%.
