Free online guide helps theatre staff improve patient safety

  • Comment

Healthcare professionals working in theatres can now benefit from a free online guide designed to minimise unwarranted variation.

The guide, produced by Nursing Times in association with Syncera, explores solutions to common problems associated with perioperative environments with direct feedback and innovative ideas from frontline staff.

The over-arching theme - minimising unwarranted variation – stems from the theory that this is key to mitigating the risk of never events and near-misses.

The guide includes advice on what technology clinicians may find helpful, reducing wastage and preventing variation in practice, as well as explanations as to how and why these changes will improve patient care.

Syncera is a strategic business unit of pharmaceutical company Smith & Nephew, which focuses on health technology.
