The 6 September 2017 Westminster nurses’ pay protest captured in pictures

Nursing Times has collected together a gallery of images to showcase Wednesday’s rally in London against the government’s long-running 1% cap on nursing and other NHS pay rises.

Many of the images, designed to capture a flavour of the Royal College of Nursing event, were taken by agency nurse and photographer Bridget Catterall, who is also an RCN member. Others were taken by members of the Nursing Times news team – Nicola Merrifield and Megan Ford.

  • You can't knit a nurse in 10 weeks. End of life patients don't just need their hand holding by 3 nurse assistants......they actually often need end of life drugs from a trained experienced nurse. How many lprivate sector care establishments have put untrained staff in navy blue to mislead the public. This door to disaster should never have been opened. Just left after 25 years for a different job because I can't be everywhere with 4x as many patients under my PIN number.

    Degree trained clinical lead.
