Voting has opened for the next president of the Royal College of Nursing.
Current incumbent Cecilia Anim and long-standing RCN steward and current council member Mike Travis are the two candidates for the role. The term of office is two years from 1 January 2017.
Ballot papers are included with the October issue of RCN Bulletin and must be returned by 5pm on Wednesday 16 November.
All members of the college are being encouraged to cast their vote. However, as it is a statutory election, members can only vote by post.
As opposed to the chief executive and general secretary, the RCN president is a more ceremonial role and involves representing the college and nursing across the UK and internationally.
The post-holder has a prominent leadership profile within the organisation, and works alongside the RCN’s council chair and the chief executive to “champion” the work of the college and its members.
