NHS Direct consults on Foundation Trust proposals

  • Comment
NHS Direct has launched a consultation on plans to become an NHS Foundation Trust.

The 16-week consultation will provide more information about the organisation’s plans, which will see it run by a council of 29 governors, representing the views of public, staff and stakeholders.

Events up and down the country will provide more information about NHS Direct’s vision for the future and allow staff and stakeholders to share their views.

A national stakeholder conference is also planned to take place in London on 21 February 2008.

Matt Tee, NHS Direct chief executive, said: ‘Foundation Trust status will enable us to work more closely with the broader NHS to ensure that our services are better integrated with theirs so that patients receive a seamless service no matter where they start their “health journey”’.
