NHS Direct gives festive advice

  • Comment
NHS Direct has launched a special Christmas Health Zone on its web site giving advice on how to stay healthy during the festive season.

Its new ‘Christmas Health Zone’ gives invaluable advice on NHS out of hours services. It also provides advice on what to do in the event of a bout of flu or diarrhoea and vomiting.

Last year NHS Direct had more than 211,000 visits to its website during the festive period, from 23 December until 1 January and these are expected to increase significantly this season.

A ‘New Year’ zone will give advice on how to stick to resolutions for 2008, such as exercise, healthy eating, smoking and detoxing.

Adrian Reyes Hughes, associate director of health and health service information, said: ‘If everyone took just a few minutes to look at the new NHS Direct Christmas Health zone, it might take the stress out of the festivities and may prevent them from getting ill.’
