NHS grows apart with devolution

  • Comment
There are now four different health services operating in the UK as a result of devolution, according to the head of the nursing regulator.

Sarah Thewlis, chief executive of the NMC, said the devolvement of health provision in England, Scotland Wales and Northern Ireland was creating new challenges for the organisation.

‘We are the UK regulator but there are now four different health services and they will get more different as the years go by,’ she said.

‘We will need to understand what is going on in the other three devolved administrations,’ she added.
