Nurse consultant cites 'brilliant opportunity'

  • Comment
Linda Nazarko has been appointed nurse consultant by Ealing PCT.

Ms Nazarko will set up and manage a nurse-led intermediate care unit at Clayponds Hospital in Ealing, where she will be clinically responsible for patients. She commented: ‘I’ve wanted to set up a nurse-led unit for many years. Recent changes in nursing such as nurse prescribing have made it possible for nurses to practice at advanced level and to totally manage inpatient care with certain groups of patients.

‘This is a brilliant opportunity to show what nursing and nurses can do when given the opportunity. I am currently recruiting the brightest and the best to contribute to what will be a centre of nursing excellence.’

Ms Nazarko has worked with older people for 25 years and was awarded an OBE for services to nursing and older people in 2006.
