Nurse helps out Ellen MacArthur Trust

Kim Rowlandson, a senior staff nurse at St Mary’s hospital on the Isle of Wight, has been helping some young cancer survivors take to the high seas.

She has been taking part in the Ellen MacArthur Trust Round Britain Voyage, which has taken young people sailing to help them regain confidence while recovering from cancer.

The trust’s boat left the Isle of Wight in May on a voyage around the UK, stopping at 17 ports to allow the 85 young people on board to visit the paediatric oncology wards where they were treated.

Ms Rowlandson accompanied the boat on its leg from Aberdeen to Inverness earlier this month. The boat is due to return to the Isle of White on 13 September.
