Nurse organises charity car wash for diabetes

  • Comment

A Birmingham nurse has organised a charity car wash to raise money for Diabetes UK after her father received treatment for the disease.

The charity car wash is taking place today at City Hospital in Birmingham.

Armed with buckets and sponges, volunteers will be washing cars to raise funds for Diabetes UK as part of a series of fundraising activities run by City Hospital nurse Sarah Peyton to raise awareness about diabetes.

Ms Peyton chose to support Diabetes UK because her father suffers from the disease and the advice and support he has received from Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust has meant that he has never had to be admitted to hospital.

Future fundraising events include a canoe race between Bewdley and Bridgnorth and Ms Peyton’s sponsored trek across the Himalayas later in the year.
