Nurse prescribing guidance developed in Scotland

  • Comment

Draft guidance to develop nurse prescribing has been published by the Scottish Government.

The consultation paper provides a framework to help boards which have not yet fully established a non-medical scheme.

It tells boards how to consider the culture of their area and the capability of their staff when planning how to develop nurse prescribing.

The Government hopes the guidance, if approved, will create a consistent, country-wide approach.

Responses to the document, A Safe Prescription: Developing Nurse, Midwife and Allied Health Profession Prescribing in NHS Scotland, must be completed by February next year.

A final report will be available in April.
