Nurse takes on lead role at children's hospice charity

  • Comment
A Chilterns nurse has become the first director of care development at national charity Children’s Hospices UK.

Maddie Blackburn, currently chief executive of Iain Rennie Hospice at Home, qualified as a nurse, midwife and health visitor in the 1970s.

After training as a solicitor in the 1990s, she worked both in the NHS and children’s hospice sector.

Children’s Hospices UK gives support to hospices for children not expected to reach adulthood, and also fundraises and raises awareness.

Ms Blackburn starts her new position in February.
