A former nurse has been given the top job at the biggest NHS trust in the country.

A former nurse has been given the top job at the biggest NHS trust in the country.

As chief executive of Leeds Teaching Hospital Trust, Maggie Boyle is responsible for Leeds General Infirmary, St JamesÃ?Â's Hospital and an annual budget of 730 million pounds.

She was previously chief executive of Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust in Merseyside.

Her new post has a salary of about 165,000 pounds.
