NURSES in Sussex have proved that they can vaccinate 300 patients an hour, during a test of their pandemic flu plan.

The 18 nurses from Brighton and Hove PCT vaccinated 600 patients during a two-hour trial this month. To make the event realistic, nurses also dealt with real-life problems, with some patients pretending to collapse or be under the influence of alcohol.

Janet Heath, lead nurse manager for the South Downs Health NHS Trust, which jointly organised the event, said: 'The nurses did really well - they said they could have done more.'
