Nursing director takes up new post in Nottingham

Mandie Sunderland has this week joined Nottingham University Hospitals as its new director of nursing and midwifery.

She was previously chief nurse at Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust and prior to that at Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust.

Ms Sunderland’s clinical background is intensive care nursing. Her main interests are improving quality and governance.

Speaking of her new role, she said: “I’ve always wanted to work at a large teaching hospital with an excellent reputation and NUH more than fits this bill.

“Getting this job and leading nurses and midwives at one of the largest and most prestigious teaching trusts in the country is without doubt one of the highlights of my career,” she said.

“I look forward to building on the great foundations that are in place to position Nottingham as a national and international leader for Nursing and Midwifery,” she added.
