A fictional book based on a Queens Nurse in the East End of London just as the Second World war ends.

What were the highlights?

If you liked ”Call the Midwife”, then this book is a must. Connie a senior Queens Nurse, shares her story of life in the East End, including delivering babies and carrying out general nursing care. Her personal life is full of turmoil and difficult decisions, which enhances the book further. The support of the team she works with and struggles with management ring as true today as when the book was set. An enjoyable read.

Strengths & weaknesses:

The struggles of a busy professional life mixed with the real life traumas personally make this book a page turner. The author maintains her background as a nurse and the factual content is maintained throughout.

Who should read it?

Nurses and the general public would enjoy this book, a good holiday read is assured.
