"Speak out Safely is a source of support for whistleblowers" Patients First

Roger Kline from Patients First explains why the Speak out Safely campaign is so important

“Patients First, the NHS whistleblowers network, is delighted that Nursing Times has launched and sustained its Speak out Safely campaign to encourage and support nurses and other staff who wish to raise concerns about the safety and care of their patients.

“After the catastrophic events at Mid Staffordshire NHS trust it has been a source of support for whistleblowers like us that the leading nursing journal has run such a high-profile and imaginative campaign. It makes it that much easier for nursing staff to feel confident that they are doing the right thing if they decide to challenge poor practice or an unsafe working environment in the interests of patient care.”

  • This campaign is laudable, but a large number of nurses still prefer to remain anonymous just posting comments and opinions to NT, let alone whistleblowing.
